Make The Yuletide Gay

This films is about an out-and-proud gay college student who goes back into the closet to for the christmas holidays with his family. His parents try to set him up with his high school sweetheart, Abby. But when his boyfriend, Nathan, shows up at their doorstep unannounced he must put on a charade to keep the relationship a secret.

I thought this film was really good, you could tell it was low budget but that just added to it. Hot guys, fantastically funny yet out of this world parents. This film has brilliant humor throughout but t also has quite a touching story behind it too.

I would definately say that this film is a must see for christmas, as always its available from my stores if you wish to buy it.

The Matthew Shepard Story

The Matthew Shepard Story is a movie based on the true story of Matthew Shepard who was tied to a fence and beaten because he was gay.  This award winning film was very well made it allows you to sort of get to know Matthew Shepard and the story of his life and death.  It is a very upsetting film to watch but also very good, the only thing that upset me more was the book "The Meaning of Matthew" that was written by Judy Shepard, Matthews mother which allows you to know Matt in more depth.

The only problem with this movie is that it is only available in Region 1 so if you live in Europe like myself then you need a multi-region DVD player to watch it.

The DVD is available to buy from my US store if you wish to buy it, The book "The Meaning of Matthew" is available from both my stores aswell.

Breakfast with Scot

Breakfast with Scot is a film about a young boy who's mother died of a drug overdose, his legal guardian Billy is proving difficult to get hold of so Scot has to go and stay with Billy's brother and his partner until Billy can come and get him.  However while Scot is staying with Sam & Eric they become quite attached.

This is a very sweet film with lots of humour and emotion thrown in.  It's also very much a christmas film which is why I chose to do this review so close to christmas, so you have time to see it and buy it before christmas arrives.

It is a funny yet touching film that I would recommend to anyone not just gay guys.  As usual if you wish to buy this DVD I have made it available in my stores

Judas Kiss

Failed filmmaker Zachary Wells is convinced by his best friend and hotshot director Topher into replacing him as a judge in their film school's annual festival. Zach's one-night stand with a student backfires when that student walks into an interview the next morning calling himself Danny Reyes, the name Zach went by when he attended the school. And Danny's film, "Judas Kiss," is a finalist in the competition Zach is judging. Zach's film, also "Judas Kiss," won the festival years before. As Zach scrambles for answers, a mysterious, chain-smoking campus tour guide, counsels him: "Change the kid's past, change your future." But how? Zach comes to believe he can mend his life by disqualifying Danny from competition, putting him on a different path than Zach followed. But will Zach's plan work?

I really liked this film and not just because Sean Paul Lockhart otherwise known as Brent Corrigan and Richard Harmon who play Chris Wachowsky and Danny Reyes are both very cute guys. I liked this film because it was touching, and has a message of hope for the future and causes self reflection and if you could change the past what would you do differently.

This film is an emotional film designed in a way to provoke an emotional response from the viewer, allowing you to really enjoy the film as you almost feel part of it.

As always this film is available to buy from my stores, just click on the appropriate link on the right hand side of the page.

Tan Lines

Tan lines is a film about a boy named Midget played by Jack Baxter.  Midget likes to go surfing with his friends.  When his best friends older gay brother Cass shows up Midget finds an interest in him.

Midget and Cass start a secret romance with lots of sex, when he's with cass he starts wishing he could go and see the world, maybe paris.  Somewhere where ha can be out and free from the small minded people in his small town but when Cass's parents return from holiday only to find that Dan has turned their house into party central, Cass has returned after four years, and Midget is in Cass's bed, you know there's going to be an uncomfortable conversation around the dining room table, but Midget doesn't shrink into himself. infact, he's aggressive and confrontational, pushing hard because he really believes that he and Cass are going to run away and live happily ever after.

I thought this film was good but not brilliant, there were a couple of hot guys and a few good scenes but overall I wasn't totally impressed with the film, that however is personal choice and you may enjoy it.

It is available to buy in my store's if you are intertested.

Mysterious Skin

Mysterious skin is a film about two young guys who are haunted by events of the past.  It is a tough child abuse film.  In the summer of 1981, Brian and Neil are both eight years old and playing on the same little league baseball team in a small town.  One day, after a game, Brian blacks out after getting caught in a rainstorm, and five hours later he finds himself sitting in his basement with his nose bleeding and no memory of what happened to him. Over the years, the event -- particularly the missing five hours -- weigh heavily on his mind, and he becomes convinced that he was kidnapped by space aliens.

Meanwhile, during the same summer, Neil developed a powerful crush on their little league coach, who appeared to have also taken a shine to Neil. Neil's mother, seeing nothing wrong with their friendship, lets the coach look after Neil while she's off on one of her many dates, and before long Neil begins sexually experimenting with the older man. Neil's introduction to sex inspires him to become a hustler when he grows into his teens, and after burning his bridges in his hometown, Neil and his close friend Wendy move to New York, where he continues to cruise for a living but under significantly more risky circumstances.

With a good cast this film is definately an emotional experience to watch.  I would definately reccomend this film to anyone.

This movie as always is available to buy from my stores, just click the appropriate link on the right hand side of your screen.

Hellbent

Hellbent is great fun, probably the most fun I've had in years during a horror flick. It delivers on all counts - it's scary as hell (sorry, I couldn't resist!), gruesome in a couple of well placed scenes, and funny without weakening the tension. In fact, it's one of the scariest films I've seen in quite some time. In addition, the action revolves around five hunky gay men who are pursued by the psycho slasher - a refreshing and welcome change.

Four gay men go out in West Hollywood on Halloween night to have a good time, unaware that the previously mentioned psycho slasher has his eye on them. The boys party like only gay men can, and one of them talks to another hunk that he's seen around who joins them. One by one the boys are picked off until the final confrontation. What makes this film differ from others in the horror/slasher genre is the concentration on and the respect for the characters of the film. Paul Etheredge-Ouzts develops well-fleshed characters for the film, giving the performers much to work with in the story. The cast is terrific, in addition to being great to look at. Matt Phillips is particularly effective, funny and even touching, showing the vulnerability of his character even through drag.

As always the DVD is available in my store's just click the appropriate link on the right hand side of the page.

Prayers for Bobby

Prayer for Bobby is a film based on true events. The film is about Mary Griffith a christian mother coming to terms with the death of her gay son Bobby Griffith who killed himself by jumping off a bridge due to his mothers religious intolerance to his homosexuality.

The first time I watched this film I pretty much cried throughout the whole thing. It starts off by showing you the story of Bobby and how he felt and allows you to get to know him, then he kills himself and it shows you the story of Mary coming to terms with his death and then becoming a gay rights campaigner.

This film is a must see for any gay person. It stars Sigourney Weaver as Mary Griffith and Ryan Kelley as Bobby Griffith, they are very good actors who really make you feel like you know the characters. It makes you feel some sort of connection to the characters.

The DVD is available in my stores if you wish to buy it, just click on the link in the top right hand corner.

Shelter

I first seen shelter years ago before I came out, somebody I was speaking to online sent me a link to a clip of the film and I liked what I seen.

I very quickly made the decision to buy the film and watch it and it was and still is one of my favourite movies.  It is a very touching story about a guy stuggling with his sexuality and falling in love with his best friends older brother.

Aside from his clear romantic interest in Zach, Shaun also encourages his new friend to pursue his interest in art and to reapply to California Institute of Arts, where Zach says he was denied a much-needed scholarship the previous year. As Zach struggles to navigate his deepening relationship with Shaun, his family drama, and his own ambitions and dreams, he gradually transforms from a dutiful, quiet, and put-upon youth to a vibrant, intelligent, and loving young man.

I would really recommend Shelter to anybody who is just looking to watch a good movie.

Shelter is available in my stores if you wish to buy it, as I said it is a good movie.

Beautiful Thing

Sweet, touching, coming of age gay love story must see

Beautiful Thing is a really sweet and touching film about the love story of two gay lads Jamie & Ste.
Ste gets abused by his father and older brother, one night he has to stay with Jamie and the two of them hit it off.  The acting not only from the two leads but infact all cast members is astonishing, it's so natural you would honestly believe this is there lives.

Beautiful Thing is an absolute must see, I would Really recommend this film to anyone.

As I have mentioned on my other Blog www.gayyouthdiscussion.blogspot.com I have Amazon stores selling books and DVD's that I have watched and enjoyed.  I will add Beautiful Thing to my Amazon stores and provide a link to my stores at the side if you wish to buy it.
